Community Safety and Enhancement
(1 Supervisor/Coordinator, 2 Student Positions anticipatory)
The Labrador Hunting and Fishing Association Inc. (LHAFA) have one (1) Supervisory and two anticipatory (2) summer student positions open for competition.
Overview: The Labrador Hunting and Fishing Association Inc. is seeking employment applications for a supervisor and two Summer Students in the positions of Community Safety and Enhancement Coordinators.
Wage: Supervisor/Coordinator $16.00/hour; Summer Students $14.00/hour
Duration: Supervisor/Coordinator: 12 weeks (June-September)
Students: 7 weeks (June-August) possibility of extension
Hours: 35 hours/week (work during weekends and evenings required)
Start Date: June 1, 2016
Location: Happy Valley - Goose Bay, NL
Must have access to internet/email services E-mail resume and cover letter to labradorhuntingandfishing@gmail.com before May 31, 2016 at 1pm Atlantic time.
A valid driver's license and PAL are assets and access to a pick-up desirable.
Must have a laptop computer with WiFi.
Process
Screening A hiring committee will screen the applications against position requirements. Best qualified candidates will be selected for an interview. Only selected candidates will be notified.
Interview Selected candidates will proceed with an interview.
Reference References on best suited candidates will be checked.
Decision Successful and unsuccessful interviewed candidates will be notified.
Job Descriptions
Major Duties (Supervisor/Coordinator)
Attend Board of Directors meetings and take direction from the LHAFA Directors and Executive.
Provide supervision, scheduling and assistance to all summer students
Work with the Shooting Club Chair to develop a weekly schedule for the LHAFA Shooting Range.
Ensure that the Shooting Range is operated efficiently and effectively for LHAFA members.
Coordinate all LHAFA promotional and community activities
Oversee any constructions/clean-up at the LHAFA facilities/properties
Major Duties (Students)
Provide membership information and update the LHAFA Face book page, the LHAFA website and through community events.
Develop and distribute LHAFA information materials at local events.
Organize small events with local groups on the goals and projects of the LHAFA.
Promote the LHAFA through membership sales and fundraising initiatives
Promote boating safety and implement a Boating Courtesy Check program.
Pick up garbage and maintain a clean area at the Boat Launch.
Education
Preference given to current members of the Labrador Hunting and Fishing Association Inc. and their dependents and students currently enrolled or returning to a post-secondary institution.
To be considered for student positions, the applicant must meet Student Eligibility criteria as per Canada Summer Jobs program 2016, which include the following:
Canadian citizen or entitled to work in Canada.
Between the ages of 15 and 30 years.
Must be a full time student and returning to school in fall 2016.

Hours and Days of work (35 hrs per week)
Monday to Sunday, irregular hours. Employees are expected to work weekends during the North West River Beach Festival, Canoe Regatta, LHAFA Shooting Range and some Saturdays at the Community Market promoting the organization. Evenings on favorable weather days will be spent outdoors at the LHAFA Boat Launch or the Shooting Range. This is a 7 week term position beginning in June 2016.

Respond to phone, email, and in-person enquiries and provide information to the public using customer service and oral communication skills
Provide administrative support to Directors
Must be able to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities
Sell memberships, ticket sales
Perform data entry from Membership Applications
Perform other related duties as required
Knowledge of Microsoft Office, internet, and email software
Ability to work independently, follow and carry out instructions
