The Executive of the Labrador Hunting and Fishing Association would like to thank all the businesses, participants, volunteers and other supporters that have made our 7th Annual Steak and Lobster Dinner and Auction another tremendous success! Generous donations from our community enabled us to offer over $20,000 in raffle, silent auction and door prizes to those in attendance. Over 250 people attended the event and provided overwhelming positive compliments on a wonderful evening had by all. All money raised by the Labrador Hunting and Fishing Association goes directly back into our community! We invest in community infrastructure in the maintenance and improvements to our Public Boat Launch, our 50m and 100m Shooting Ranges and in our newest project, a full service Boating Marina! We also support and invest in our youth in the community through hiring 3 to 4 students every summer and through conducting our 3rd annual Youth Skills Shooting competition coming up in September. We also promote safe outdoor activities including hunting, shooting and boating at community events and implement a Safe Boating Program in partnership with Transport Canada's Boating Safety Office. We also obtained nearly $200,000 from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans to place the new bridge and culverts at Birch Island Creek to increase water quality and improve fish migration upstream.
